India could soon make its own big batteries to store solar and wind power instead of importing them. Premier Energies has signed a binding term sheet with Germany's RCT Group to build a 12 GWh battery energy storage plant in Telangana, starting with a 6 GWh first phase. Local manufacturing points to cheaper, steadier clean power, new factory jobs and less dependence on imported cells — a boost to India's energy security.
