In Bilapura, rapid growth caused waste to pile up in lakes and open lands, creating a severe problem of pollution, health risks, and animal deaths. To solve this, Azim Premji University and Hasiru Dala partnered with the local panchayat to implement a solution: a "Zero Waste Centre" driven by student-led technology and 90% source segregation. This benefits people by providing dignified local jobs, restoring soil through composting, and ensuring cleaner air and water for 12,000 residents.
