Turning farm and city waste into clean cooking and vehicle fuel means less pollution and less imported gas. Petronet LNG is forming a 50:50 joint venture with Gruner Renewable Energy to build 10 compressed biogas (CBG) plants, investing about ₹1,200 crore. CBG cuts crop-stubble burning and landfill methane, creates rural jobs and gives farmers a market for their waste, while trimming India's fuel import bill. Plant sites and timelines are still being finalised.
