Facing severe water scarcity, Lakmen Mary Nongkhlaw of a Kerala village took charge. She mobilized fellow villagers to construct four check dams, five water storage tanks, and renovate six spring chambers. To complement these efforts, the community planted 16,000 saplings. Today, this collective effort has transformed the village. Six communal taps now provide a steady water supply, even during the harsh dry seasons, proving the immense power of local, unified action.
