In rural Bihar and Jharkhand, SHRI tackles the dual crisis of open defecation and iron-contaminated water. They build community toilets where human waste is processed in biodigesters to produce methane gas. This gas powers filtration systems that purify 1,000 litres of water hourly. This innovation provides free, safe sanitation and supplies clean drinking water for just 50 paise per litre. It restores dignity to women, creates local jobs, and significantly improves public health.
