Tech for Good: IoT Automates Village Water to Slash Power Bills
Erode faced water shortages, wastage, and high-power bills due to manual tank management. With few operators, supply was erratic and pumps often overflowed or ran dry. IAS officer Raja Gopal Sunkara installed IoT sensors to automate 63 tanks. This system handles pumping, prevents overflow, and schedules supply via a mobile app. Power bills fell by 40% and supply rose by 20%. Residents now have reliable water, saving time and money.
