A big steel-plant job means hundreds of construction jobs in West Bengal and more home-made steel for India's roads, railways and buildings. Engineering firm SEPC has won a ₹855 crore order from state-run SAIL to build facilities at its pellet plant in Burnpur, lifting SEPC's order book past ₹10,000 crore. The 32-month build adds local work now and steadier domestic steel supply later, cutting reliance on imports.
