In Bengaluru, the PfA Wildlife Hospital is saving thousands of birds hurt by sharp kite strings called "manjha." Sharp, glass-coated strings cut birds’ wings and bodies, making it impossible for them to fly or survive. Doctors use a "feather bank" to glue new feathers onto injured birds (called imping) and use long poles to rescue birds stuck high in trees. Over 14,800 birds have been given a second chance to fly, keeping the city's nature alive and healthy.
