Koradi's Fly Ash Dump Transformed into Dense Bamboo Forest

CSIR-NEERI scientists in Nagpur have successfully transformed the toxic Koradi fly ash dumping ground into a dense bamboo forest.
Fly ash contamination is reduced because bamboo naturally absorbs silica, which typically accumulates on crops and lowers yields. Dr. Lal Singh's team developed a world-first, five-step method involving pollutant identification, selecting tolerant plants, reducing the ash, mixing fungi/microorganisms, and planting bamboo. This technology converts nutrient-poor wasteland into fertile land.
