Rural Jharkhand faced a crisis: a lack of hygiene education forced girls out of school, while 113,000 tonnes of plastic pad waste polluted the land. Tarun Kumar’s Nischay Foundation gave out 5,000 reusable pad kits and started "One Pad, One Tree." He built school "pad banks" and low-cost incinerators. Dhatkidih village is now 100% menstrual-waste-free. Over 5,000 girls have health dignity, and 30,000 trees were planted to restore the environment.
