The problem is that Indian homes waste 55 kg of food yearly and pay for expensive LPG, while organic waste rot in landfills. To provide a solution, IITian Priyadarshan built "Vaayu," a biodigester that uses bacteria to turn kitchen scraps into methane gas. The benefit to people is massive: 350 homes now save 2,500 LPG cylinders annually. Priyadarshan himself hasn't bought a cylinder in 7 years, proving that everyday waste can power a home and save money.
