China's patent office has granted Godavari Biorefineries a patent for a class of compounds that block a cell process viruses depend on, protecting its work on future antiviral medicines. It is early-stage research, not a product yet, but it builds home-grown drug-discovery capability that can help patients and cut reliance on imported medicines over the years.
