Free Ultrasound App Cuts Baby Deaths in Half for Rural Moms!
Pregnant women in rural Odisha lacked access to ultrasounds due to high costs and long distances, leading to high infant deaths. IAS officer Dibyajyoti Parida launched the "Nirikhyana" app, offering three free scans through private and government clinics. 38 lakh women benefited. High-risk pregnancy detection jumped from 4% to 25%, and neonatal deaths were cut in half in just two years, saving countless lives.
