In Melghat, extreme neglect once led to an infant mortality rate of 200 per 1,000 births and frequent farmer suicides. To solve this, Dr. Ravindra and Dr. Smita Kolhe dedicated 35 years to the region, charging a nominal fee of just Rs 2. They provided medical care, taught sustainable farming, and lived as locals to build trust. This selfless service slashed infant mortality to 40 per 1,000 and transformed the area into a suicide-free zone, restoring hope and health to thousands.
