Chennai Turns a Mountain of Junk Into Useful Home Furniture

Chennai cleared the massive Perungudi landfill, which was a huge health and space problem for the city. Using a local technology called biomining, they cleaned up 1.7 million cubic metres of trash without causing pollution. They turned the waste into useful things: metal became utensils, glass became bottles, and plastic became outdoor furniture. This gives people cleaner air and reclaimed land, showing that trash can be turned into treasure.
