Satellite ground segment hubs are the equipment that lets forces talk and move data over satellite links, and India has historically leaned on foreign systems for parts of this. Avantel, a Hyderabad-based defence electronics firm, has won a ₹117.88 crore contract from DRDO to develop, install and commission a Ground Segment Hub for voice and data communication — designed and built in India.
