AI Saves Over 6,000 Elephant Lives!

Tamil Nadu has successfully overcome the problem of elephant accidents while crossing railway tracks by using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Since 2023, the AI warning system has successfully averted over 6,000+ incidents of elephant herds crossing the railway lines.
For this, 12 towers and 25 thermal cameras have been utilized. The system immediately alerts forest officials to the presence of elephants, allowing the officials to stop the trains and help the elephants cross safely. This has resulted in a significant achievement in wildlife conservation.
